From Breaking Boundaries to Scenario Integration: AWE2026 Releases Industry Trend Report
In March 2026, the Appliance & Electronics World Expo (AWE2026) concluded successfully in Shanghai. Centered around the theme “Smart AI, Smarter Future,” this flagship industry event achieved a series of record-breaking milestones. The exhibition spanned 170,000 square meters — the largest in its history. Visitor attendance exceeded 250,000, also setting a new record. Livestream-driven sales surpassed RMB 8 billion, another historic high. Even more notably, the event broke beyond industry circles and became a widely discussed social topic during the exhibition period — yet another first for AWE.
Behind these historic achievements lies the growing influence and industry value that AWE has accumulated over the years. As a recognized barometer of industry development, AWE2026 offered a clear glimpse into the future direction and evolution of the sector.
To capture these developments, the AWE Organizing Committee commissioned China Appliance magazine to produce a dedicated trend report. In May 2026, the report titled AI Empowering Everything, Intelligence Shaping the Future — Industry Development Trends from AWE2026 (hereinafter referred to as the “Trend Report”) was officially released.
The Trend Report highlights four major industry trends:
-AI reshaping smart living
-The comprehensive expansion of health-oriented scenarios
-The unstoppable momentum of low-carbon transformation
-The rise of integrated mobility ecosystems
The integration of AI with home appliances and consumer electronics has been explored for many years. Coupled with rapid advances in AI technology, the transformation showcased at AWE2026 was nothing short of revolutionary. Leading companies are not only attempting to equip appliances with intelligent “brains,” but are also striving to give them “hands and feet.” Some robotic vacuum cleaners have even developed “wings” and can now “fly.” Across the other three major trends — health, green low-carbon development, and mobility — AI’s empowering role is equally significant. AI is turning isolated health functions into an increasingly sophisticated home wellness management ecosystem; making energy-saving solutions more proactive, flexible, and efficient; and driving mobility toward a smarter and greener future.
Health, long regarded as a key focus of the industry, was presented at AWE2026 in a flourishing display of innovation and diversity. Consumers no longer expect home appliances merely to reduce household chores or improve comfort and convenience. Instead, they are looking to innovative appliances and upgraded technologies to create healthier living environments and lifestyles.
Green and low-carbon development remains both an industry responsibility and a strategic priority. From new energy applications and sustainable materials to the establishment of comprehensive recycling systems, every standout exhibit reflected the industry’s continued commitment to advancing sustainability.
At AWE2026, “mobility” evolved beyond simple cross-industry experimentation to become one of the exhibition’s most eye-catching breakthroughs — not only for the industry itself, but also for AWE as a platform. Through the concept of “People–Home–Mobility,” AWE is presenting audiences with a fully integrated vision of future lifestyles.
Taken together, these four trends reveal an even clearer picture of the industry’s future direction: the transition from boundary-breaking reconstruction to deep scenario integration.
From the early stage of smart individual appliances to today’s discussions around home service robots, smart home ecosystems, and even seamless “People–Home–Mobility” connectivity beyond the household, the industry is steadily shaping a new way of life — one that is fully intelligent, seamlessly connected, healthier, and more sustainable. Through continuous innovation and exploration, this vision unfolded at AWE2026 like a panoramic scroll gradually coming to life.
